THE POET'S CORNER
Welcome
to The Poet's
Corner, a page inspired by my love of poetry. Here, from time to time,
I'll share with you poems that I've enjoyed reading over the years,
and which continue to inspire me as a writer and to enrich my life as human
being.
The enjoyment of poetry, I believe, is key to a happy life,
and an important ingredient of human progress. By sharpening and deepening the sensibilities,
poetry enriches the soul and strengthens our ties
to the human family and to the world of nature.
Whatever your language, nationality or culture, if you
love poetry, it will change the way you perceive
yourself, and the way you experience the world and everything in it, great and small. It
will refine your taste in just about everything, and it's people of refined
taste, I believe, who enjoy life better, because life is like good wine:
it yields its riches only to those who drink it with discrimination. No one who truly loves poetry, I
venture to say, can be selfish, mean, narrow-minded or a bigot.
If you have a favorite poem you'd like to share with the rest of humanity, e-mail it to
me at mark@mathabane.com. In the meantime,
enjoy the cornucopia.
